Centre for Bioinformatics of Pondicherry University is a national facility funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Department of Information Technology and University Grants Commission. The Centre offers M.Sc. course and Ph.D., in Bioinformatics. The Centre has received Centre of Excellence for Teaching and Research in Bioinformatics by the Department of Information Technology, Govt. of India. Under this programme the centre is offering modular courses in various areas of Bioinformatics for personnel from industry and academia and depending on successful completion of the 4 modules, PG Diploma degree in Bioinformatics is awarded. From 2010, the Centre is offering a M.Sc. Course in Computational Biology with full support from Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India as a collaborative network programme. The Centre has access to several online and offline e-journals. A modern computational facility is available round-the-clock to all the students of Bioinformatics. The Centre has conducted more than 35 Seminars/ Workshops during the past years.
About the Seminar :
The 3-day National level Seminar cum Workshop sponsored by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), India will focus on "Drug Design and industrial applications", which involves diversified topics in bioinformatics. Experts in various fields will deliver lectures and conduct demonstrations followed by hands-on training. The seminar will be very useful to the faculty and students interested in drug designing and its extension to pre-clinical studies, which are of immense scope in pharmaceutical industries.
