The conference is being organised by the Indian Journal of Medical Specialities which is committed to spreading medical education in collaboration with the Department of Medicine, Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi.
The Indian Journal of Medical Specialities continuing with its educational commitment has always catered to topics of practical importance to all postgraduates, residents and general practitioners. The First Annual Conference on Research Methodology and Paper-Writing was a tremendous success and a need was felt to enlighten and educate the postgraduates, residents and researchers on Biostatistics, which is not routinely taught in the right earnest in any curriculum.
Unlike the Annual Conference held on October 9, 2011 which was largely attended, this event aims to target a very small group and only 30 participants will be registered on a first come first serve basis, so that at the end of the one and a half day workshop and hands on training, the participants go home with confidence that they can execute what they have learnt nicely.
Three sessions are proposed, one on Sample size determination, other on Application of Statistical tests and the third half day session will be solely dedicated to SPSS.
It is going to be a totally different ball-game because the efforts put in by the organisers and the resource persons will be with the sole aim of capacity-building of the participants. The participants will be provided hands-on-training on laptops/desktops so that they can practice then and there whatever they are learning. Surely, the conference is going to deal with topics which are difficult, but I am sure that at the end of it all, the participants would return home more than satisfied.
There is a tremendous research potential in the country and most of it is suffering because of lack of knowledge and its execution. Biostatistics is an important part of research and expertise in the same is of paramount importance. Hence, these three half-day sessions in this workshop will be of immense significance to researchers and scholars who are keen to pursue research.
The workshop proposes to be an academic feast and is aimed for the scientific researcher, postgraduates, research scholars and doctors with a keen interest towards research. People who are ambitious to take up faculty posts and find research bothersome will also benefit immensely from the hands-on workshops.
The workshops shall include a series of lectures from eminent speakers from all over India and the programme will be interspersed with three workshops. These workshops will help the delegates grasp whatever has been delivered in the lectures. At the end of the day, we are sure that the participants will be delighted to have learnt newer concepts and gained newer ideas, which they will be able to execute in their day-to-day routine with greater efficiency.
The delegates should register early and make the most of this rare opportunity to gain insights in to biostatistics and its related aspects.
